In February 1968, Chrysler took the performance philosophy of “small car, big engine” to whole a new level. The company told Dodge dealerships across the country that it would sell race-ready factory-built dragsters using the smallest coupe in the fleet, the Dodge Dart. The small car would be equipped with the biggest motor in the Mopar arsenal, and the result was the remarkable Super Stock Dodge Dart. A purpose-built dragster strictly for the track. Gene "the Snowman" Snow will remain in the history books as the first Funny Car driver to break the 200-mph barrier with a 200.88 clocking on Aug. 17, 1968, and the first Top Fuel driver to break the four-second barrier at an NHRA national event, Oct. 6, 1988.
