ACME Trading is thrilled to present the latest 1:12 GT40 from our Masterpiece Collection! We are especially excited about this model as it completes the Masterpiece Collection's production of the four Ford GT40 MKIVs that competed in Le Mans 1967.

After Le Mans in 1966, Ford realized that the Mk II was reaching the end of its competitive life. It was heavy, and its aerodynamics were compromised. The decision was made to return to Le Mans with an all-new car incorporating the latest technology. With almost no regard to cost, this new GT40 was built around a reinforced J chassis powered by the same 7.0 L engine as the MKII. Excluding the drivetrain and suspension parts and brakes from the MKII, the new GT40 was totally different from the previous GT40s, using a specific, all-new chassis and bodywork. This resulted in one of the most beautiful and historic cars to ever race...the Ford GT40 MKIV.

New Zealander Denny Hulme and American Lloyd Ruby shared driving duties in the #4 Mark IV that was sponsored by Holman & Moody. During the race they were progressing nicely and, in fact, set the Le Mans top speed record at over 224 mph while rocketing down the famous Mulsanne Straight! Sometime after 9:15 PM, Ruby hit an oil patch left by a car ahead of him that blew its engine. Ruby slid off the track and into an embankment and unfortunately couldn't be repaired.
