Jerry Titus began his racing career in 1960 working as a foreman for Beiner Imports and raced numerous platforms until 1966 when Shelby offered Titus a position on the Ford Mustang Trans-Am Team. Titus was the number one driver on the team, winning the Manufacturers Championship in ‘66 and ’67. During the ‘67 season he lead all drivers with four wins while driving for Shelby. In one of his last races for Shelby, he and Ronnie Bucknum piloted this #1 1968 Shelby to a class championship at the 1968 Daytona 24hr road race and finished 4th overall.
