Oran Park, round 1 of the four race Australian International Series, 13 started only 7 finished. Schuppan methodically adjusted to the wet circuit and managed 3rd on the grid during practice. On the Sunday, the race was a hard fight but by lap 35 the field began to fall. Schuppan was first into the pits for wet tire swap and on lap 37 took the advantage and by lap 48 he had taken the lead. He crossed the finish line 16.5 seconds faster than his second place competitor.
