Background

In 1968 Oldsmobile’s marketing team introduced one of the most memorable automotive ad campaigns of the day when they introduced an eight page spread featuring a mad scientist named Dr. Olds. The ads were shot in black and white and were written to embrace Oldsmobile’s dark side of horsepower. The campaign was a huge success and helped launch the 442 W30 speed parts. Accompanying the good Dr. were his sidekicks Elephant Engine Ernie, Shifty Sidney, Wind Tunnel Waldo, Esses Fernhill and Hy Spy. Oldsmobile continued this ad campaign into ’72 until manufacturers were forced to meet new smog regulations which in turn drove down the horsepower ratings.

ACME is proud to introduce the all new Dr. Olds Series! We have brought back these classics from a time when horsepower reined and creative ads like these were all the buzz and imagination. This series will feature the 70-72 Oldsmobile 442 cars that were featured in the actual Dr. Olds ad campaign. The series will be comprised of 4-6 cars ranging from ’70 – ’72 models in various trim packages from Holiday coupes to W30s! As a little bonus, each model will come with a full size Dr. Olds Series sticker and a print out of the actual ad the car was in! The first release will be this stunning 1970 442 Nugget Gold Holiday Coupe with a gorgeous tan interior! Make sure to place your pre-orders ASAP as this will surely be an instant sellout.

Features Include: - Opening doors and trunk - Poseable steering - Highly detailed 455 engine - Detailed undercarriage - Detailed interior - Folding front seats - Diecast metal body - Real rubber tires - Serialized plate
